We Are Upstanders
Learn what an upstander does for themselves and others.
Military life is built on service. Because you value serving others, military families and children can become upstanders everywhere they go. An upstander is someone who uses their voice and their actions to help others. Upstanders make their communities—and the world—better for everyone.
As you watch, you might jot down the three things that upstanders do (listen, act, unite) and try to remember the examples that our Sesame friends provide.
After you watch, you might want to:
- think about ways you and your military family listen, act, and unite to build a better world together.
- consider that for children who have directly experienced racism, being an upstander also means standing tall and proud within yourselves and your own identities. What are you most proud of about yourselves and your family?
