Senses After a Rainstorm
Children can use all their senses when engaging with nature.
Print this page, and together with your child watch this video of Oscar and Abby playing outside after the rain. Point out that they’re using four of their senses: touching, hearing, seeing, and smelling. Invite your child to color the picture as you talk about:
- What are Oscar and Abby touching with their hands? How do you think it feels to them?
- What sounds do you think they hear?
- What do they see? What are they noticing?
- What might they smell?
Next time you’re outside together, notice what you see, hear, and feel.
