What Is Asthma?
Share a kid-friendly definition of asthma.
- After watching the video together, explain to kids: When someone has asthma, the tubes that bring air to the lungs get tight and make it hard to breathe. If someone has asthma, they have it all the time, even if you can’t tell.
- Ask kids to pretend to cough or wheeze like Dani does in the video. Let them know that those signs can mean they or someone around them is having trouble breathing because of asthma. Remind kids to stay calm and tell a grown-up right away if they see those signs.
