Nature Is Everywhere
Nature is all around us — even on a city block — and it’s for everyone to notice, discover, observe, wonder about, and enjoy.
Together with your child, watch this video in which Abby, her buddy Bunberry, Elmo, and Elmo’s mommy observe nature in their city environment. Elmo’s mommy explains that nature is everything around us that people didn’t make and that it includes living things like plants and animals and non-living things like water, rocks, mud, air, and sunlight.
Move along to the song together! Then, next time you’re outside, encourage your child to notice the nature around them — mud on their shoes, the changing leaves on a tree on your block, a squirrel looking for food on the ground, falling snowflakes, weeds growing through cracks of a sidewalk, or the breeze blowing in their hair. (Once you’re back inside, consider ways to extend the learning: look up information online about the different kinds of clouds you saw, check the weather report together, or watch time-lapse videos of flowers blooming.)
And… check out this printable lyric page so you can sing the song anytime, indoors or out.
