Helping at Home, Helping the Neighborhood
Little acts can make a big difference.
Watch the video together with children, then discuss all the ways that Julia’s family did little things to impact the bigger world.
To get children involved, find two jars or other containers. Help children use paper and markers or crayons to make a label that says “Little Act of Kindness” and put it on one of the jars. Fill the other jar with beans, buttons, or other objects that can be used as counters. Set both jars on a shelf or surface that is easy to see.
When you see children take part in a small act of kindness, like cleaning up without being asked, holding the door for someone, turning off the taps in the house to save water, or turning off lights when they leave a room, put one of the objects in the jar.
Once the kindness jar is filled, decide on a way to celebrate kindness together!
