Matt Vogel is one of the core Sesame Street Muppet Performers and plays Big Bird, The Count, and Mr. Johnson, as well as recurring characters including Biff, Herb the Dinosaur, Forgetful Jones, Hansel, the pink Yip-Yip Martian, and others.
Matt is a ten-time Emmy Award winner as part of Sesame Street’s directing team. He directed the Primetime Emmy Award-Winning special, Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas (HBO). Matt is a three-time Emmy Award winning co-producer on Sesame Street as well as the show’s Puppet Captain.
Matt is one of the core Disney Muppet performers and plays Kermit the Frog, Sgt. Floyd Pepper, Uncle Deadly, Lew Zealand, Crazy Harry, Dr. Julius Strangepork, Camilla the Chicken, Sweetums, Pops, Constantine, Ma Bear, ‘80s Robot and others. Most recently, Matt teamed up with Eric Jacobson to spearhead and star in the long-awaited return of The Muppet Show. The anniversary special won four primetime Emmys and earned Matt his first Emmy as an executive producer.

Matt is the creator and host of the podcast Below the Frame, a behind-the-scenes discussion with Muppet Performers and others from the Sesame Street and Muppet universe, and co-creator of the podcast Solve for Gen X. He has a BFA in Theatre from The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University in St. Louis and is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, AEA, DGA, and PGA. Matt lives outside New York City with his wife and their five children.
