Kami surrounded by happy children in an alley

Africa

Sesame uses the power of media, partnerships, and community engagement to prepare children for a future full of opportunity.

Co-production Takalani Sesame (South Africa) and series like Sesame Teret Teret (Ethiopia) Sesame Friends (in countries across Africa), Sesame Hadithi Njoo (Kenya) and Sesame Sheeko Sheeko (Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Djibouti) are key to our early education efforts in Africa, alongside social impact initiatives encompassing health and hygiene, teacher training, learning through play, and more

With its endearing characters, songs, and stories, Takalani Sesame is the first classroom for South African children. Takalani friends teach children and their caregivers about learning through play, how to regulate emotions, building identity, and being part of a community.
