Stormy Days
Help children cope with big feelings in caregiving situations.
In the video, Elmo reminds Rosita that talking to her parents can help her cope with big feelings. Children might avoid reaching out to grown-ups because they don’t want to cause additional concerns or worries. Help children know they can talk with you by encouraging their questions and by simply saying, “You can talk to me about anything.”
It’s okay not to know how to respond sometimes. Just listening is a big part of the healing process.
