Noticing and Choosing
Learn about the three steps Elmo takes to transition away from screen time.
Print this page and share with your child. Read it aloud and talk about the three steps Elmo takes to transition away from his math game on screen when his timer goes off. Invite your child to choose what Elmo and his Daddy might do next.
Next time your child’s screen time is over, have fun thinking of ways to extend the fun in different ways. How can you “take it off the screen” and have more fun together? For instance:
- If they were watching a video, can they tell you the story in their own words? Can they move like the character in the story?
- If they were playing a game in which characters are jumping over obstacles, can you set up a simple obstacle course on the floor at home and pretend you are the characters?
- If they were playing a game in which they were constructing things, can you use blocks together to build something similar (or different)?
