I Love the Rain
Watch Elmo and Grover sing about how rain helps Earth’s people, animals, and plants live and grow.
Explore the water cycle, including how clouds form and where the rain lands such as in rivers and lakes. Water is important for maintaining the earth’s plants, flowers, trees, people, and animals.
Curriculum Note: Rain is a vital part of the water cycle as it evaporates to form clouds and rains down to nourish plants and replenish lakes, rivers, reservoirs, and more.
Note to parents before watching:
- The water cycle is integral to human life. Rain falls from the sky into rivers, lakes, and onto the earth. The sun helps water from lakes and rivers evaporate to the sky to form clouds. When the clouds get heavy, the rain falls again.
- Water is very important to our planet. It nourishes plants, animals, and humans to help all living beings grow.
Before watching: Provide opportunities for children to listen to rain falling. Let them help water houseplants or gardens.
After watching, lead a conversation with your child(ren) with these questions:
- What sound does the rain make?
- What happens to rain after it falls from the sky? How is rain part of the water cycle?
- Why do you think plants and animals need water?
