Welcome to Ask an Expert: Conversations About Digital Well-being for Families!

All parents want the best for their children and families. And while digital well-being looks different for every family, it always involves practicing habits and making choices about media and technology that help everyone thrive.

In this 6-part series, join Dr. Stephanie Lee, Psy.D, PCIT, expert in parent-child interactions, and Tara Wright, Sesame Workshop Senior Content Manager — and mom to three boys, six and under! — to explore habits that support digital well-being for the whole family. Each episode focuses on a different habit:

  • Episode 1 – Making Choices
  • Episode 2 – Noticing
  • Episode 3 – Making Connections
  • Episode 4 – Talking About It
  • Episode 5 – Switching It Up
  • Episode 6 – Learning Along the Way

In this first episode, about making choices, Dr. Lee offers ideas for families to grow in awareness of all the daily decisions they’re already making and the reasons behind them. They discuss questions, such as:

  • What role do choices play in a young child’s development?
  • What types of choices can families consider surrounding media and technology?
  • How can families notice when they might want to consider making different choices related to media and technology?
