Amid changes, building a supportive community and family are key to your well-being.
Make it a priority to create your own supportive community, with children as a key part. It can really help everyone feel safe and secure. Build routines that are predictable and involve going out in the community. Make sure children know that they have caring people all around them.
Watch the video together, then talk together about your neighborhood. You may say:
- Family is the first ingredient in our community. As long as we‘re together, it doesn’t matter where we are.
- Let’s think of some family activities and routines that we can all enjoy.
- How can we be involved in our community? We can connect through school, sports, religious organizations, whatever is most important to us. Feeling connected will make us all feel better.
- Lastly, make sure you communicate with your kids early on about what’s happening. Prepare them for coming changes!
