Sesame Street Season 57 Curriculum
Sesame Street Season 57 Curriculum
Sesame Street continually evolves to meet children’s most pressing needs, whatever they may be. At a time when young children are growing up amid rising social isolation and polarization, Season 57 expands on the emotional well-being curriculum of Season 56 to help children develop a compassionate mindset and build social problem-solving skills.
More than ever, young children need a solid foundation to help them manage big feelings, learn how to be caring and kind, and build strong relationships. Season 57’s engaging, character-driven stories are designed to help young children learn practices like sharing, listening, seeing different perspectives, and resolving conflicts in their lives — lifelong skills that will prepare them to be vital members of every community they’re in.
Through a focus on compassion and kindness, we’re helping children connect with others and develop a foundation for emotional well-being throughout their lives.
“Sesame Street’s curriculum is built around what children need most in the moment, and kindness and compassion are needed today more than ever,” said Dr. Rosemarie Truglio, Sesame Workshop’s Senior Vice President of Global Education. “Our curriculum explores social problem-solving in ways children can relate to, like taking turns, cheering up a friend, listening to and seeing things from another’s perspective, as they learn to collaborate with each other — all skills that will lay a foundation for lifelong emotional well-being.”
As Sesame Street friends learn useful strategies throughout new episodes—including ways to develop body and sensory awareness—they’ll invite kids to try along with them, enabling young viewers to practice their new strategies off-screen, to help them identify and manage their feelings.
