Carmen Osbahr (Rosita, Ovejita)
Carmen Osbahr performs Rosita, Ovejita, and other characters on Sesame Street. Originally from Mexico City, she began her career with the iconic program in 1987 when she met Jim Henson.
Carmen Osbahr is an Emmy-nominated performer who joined Sesame Street in Season 20. For 35 years, she has brought Rosita to life. Since then, she’s added on performing Ovejita and other Sesame Street characters. Originally from Mexico City, she began her career with the iconic program in 1987 after meeting Jim Henson.
Before moving to New York, Osbahr appeared on several Televisa programs in Mexico City, including The Treasure of Knowledge, Xe-Tu, and The Songs of Cri-Cri, and was part of the Plaza Sésamo team. In 1988, she officially became a Jim Henson Muppet performer, with credits including Sesame Street, City Kids, Dog City, Aliens in the Family, Between the Lions, and Bear in the Big Blue House. Her additional work includes Kiki in The Puzzle Place, a role in The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, Lily in Disney’s Johnny and the Sprites, and performances in The Muppets Take the Bowl, The Muppets Take the O2, and “The Jim Henson Retrospectacle Live in Concert.” Through the Sesame Street for Military Families initiative, she has also traveled with the USO to military bases around the world to visit children and families. In 2010, Osbahr became an American citizen, inspired in large part by that work and by her respect and affection for the military community.
