In 2023 Sesame Workshop was there for children in their moments of greatest need to enrich minds, expand hearts, and uplift lives.
Even as the challenges evolve, our approach remains constant. Whether we’re comforting families in war zones or preparing children to solve problems they can’t yet imagine, Sesame delivers the right mix of expertise, partners, and learning resources—as we have for over five decades.
We know our work is breaking through for children, with measurable results. Let me share one example. Our Ahlan Simsim media and direct services program has reached over 27 million children and caregivers across the Middle East since it launched five years ago. Now new studies conclude that Ahlan Simsim has a substantial impact on children’s learning both in schools and when in-person schooling isn’t possible. These insights enable us to be more responsive in the next emergency, be it a war or a climate disaster.
The crises children confront in the coming year will likely be unprecedented. Whatever the future brings—in the Middle East, in Ukraine, or here in the United States—trust that Sesame will be there with support tailored to children’s needs.
