The Three W’s
A three-step method for personalizing your interactions with each child.
Print and post this page as a reminder as you consider how to best reach each child, and let these steps guide you in everyday moments:
- Watch: Observe, observe, observe! What interests, delights, and amazes a child? What activities and books do they gravitate toward? What do they ask questions about?
- Wait: Notice how a little one explores and reacts to things in their environment (this can take time and patience!). Which activities are hard to pull them away from?
- Wonder: Consider how this information might help you enrich your interactions with the child, and ask yourself how you might use this information to create new learning opportunities (or adjust existing ones)!
