David Bromley Brings Sesame Street to Life in Exclusive Australian Art Exibition
Acclaimed Australian artist David Bromley is inviting Australians to take a stroll down his reimagined vision of Sesame Street with the launch of his latest exhibition, ‘Sesame Street x Bromley: In your Neighbourhood’.
Merging his playful, whimsical style with the iconic imagery of Sesame Street, the incredible exhibition will premiere in Melbourne’s Windsor on Friday 6th June, 2025, before travelling nationally.
Featuring over 50 original art pieces with interactive elements designed for both kids and kids at heart, the exhibition will also include an exclusive gift store with merchandise, original artworks and prints.
“I’m so thrilled with the new imagery I’ve been working on that combines my style with the iconic Sesame Street characters. They’re some of the most exciting works of my career and I can’t wait to share them with the world!” says Bromley.
“I’ve spent the best part of 40 years driven by curiosity and inspired by nostalgic environments, the innocence of children’s play, and the unbounded sense of imagination. I’m a great admirer of other creative energies in different industries, so the collaboration with Sesame Street is not only important to me, but incredibly inspiring.
Gabriela Arenas, SVP Global Licensing at Sesame Workshop says that Sesame Street continues to captivate kids and adult fans by blending iconic appeal, with fresh, innovative ideas, so working with Bromley was a natural fit.
“Sesame Street has been inspiring generations of children and families for over 55 years, and we love finding new ways to bring the brand’s magic to life. Collaborating with David Bromley, one of Australia’s most celebrated artists, will see Australian fans experience their favourite Sesame Street characters like never before,” says Arenas. “The exhibition captures the nostalgia, joy and creativity of Sesame Street and we’re excited to share it with fans, young and old.”
For Bromley, it was his childhood that initially attracted him to Sesame Street.
“I’ve always loved and been adventurous with colour and when I close my eyes and visualise Sesame Street, I see a rainbow of colours, movement and shapes. To me, Sesame Street is what a childhood should look like; imaginative characters, colours, community, learning through fun, games, play and the celebration of individuality.”
“I also love that Sesame Street is about diversity with different faces, personalities, and backgrounds coming together as a neighbourhood. That’s how I like to live my life, surrounded by people of all ages, interests, and walks of life.”
While David finds artistic inspiration in everything from childhood memories to street art, the Sesame Street character he identifies with most is Cookie Monster.
“Give him cookies and he is happy—I’m a bit like that with food!” he laughs.
The exhibition was brought to life by Haven Global in collaboration with art director and curator, Eddie Zammit, who introduced Bromley to Sesame Workshop, the global nonprofit behind Sesame Street.
“I’ve collaborated with both Sesame Street and David Bromley previously, and could envisage how David’s nostalgic style could merge with the Sesame Street characters. I have been on the journey with David and am excited about the upcoming exhibition. David’s artistic path is well known and recognised. This was a chance to combine an iconic artist based in Australia with one of the most important children’s TV shows.”
