Ali Dhahir Ali is the Chief of Party at Sesame Workshop’s Iraq office. He manages a team of senior early childhood development and media technical staff, leads the Ahlan Simsim Iraq program and consortium, and is responsible for donor relations and resource mobilization.

With over two decades of experience in the humanitarian and development sector, Ali has garnered extensive knowledge working on key issues in conflict and post-conflict settings. His expertise spans strategic planning, program management, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation. He has worked with entities such as the UN FAO, ACDI-VOCA, CHF/Global Communities, IWPR, and IRD/Blumont in Iraq and Syria. Ali’s work has addressed numerous issues affecting women, children, youth, and internally displaced persons. He holds an MA in Peace and Reconciliation from Coventry University in the UK.  

Throughout his career, Ali has been dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable populations, particularly in regions impacted by conflict and displacement. He has consistently committed to fostering inclusive development and creating sustainable solutions for needy communities. Ali’s leadership in ECD and media initiatives has contributed to the success of the Ahlan Simsim Iraq program, which aims to provide essential support and resources to children and families affected by the crisis. Ali’s extensive network and collaborative approach have enabled him to effectively mobilize resources and build strong partnerships with donors and stakeholders.
