Sherrie Westin and Elmo.

Letter From the CEO

This year marks our 55th anniversary, a milestone that’s very personal for me. In July, I was named the first woman to lead Sesame Workshop since our co-founder, Joan Ganz Cooney. What an honor it is to carry on Joan’s legacy as we address the most pressing needs of children.

I take the reins at a daunting time. Ongoing conflicts, climate disruption, and economic instability are hitting families hard. Meanwhile, the media landscape is more complex than ever. In a noisy world, Sesame’s beloved characters shine through to build trusted relationships with families and support children’s learning. Wherever Elmo, Abby, and friends go, little ones grow in confidence, skills, and understanding — impact we see across all kinds of learning outcomes.

Whether it’s providing tools to combat the childhood mental health crisis or providing access to education to millions of displaced children, this urgent work relies on your financial support.

Together, we’re helping children everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder — today and for generations to come.

With gratitude,

Sherrie Westin
